Our Easter Weekend

We have spent today relaxing and recovering.  This weekend was a lot of fun, and extremely full of activities.  before the weekend even started Emilee had an Easter Egg hunt at school and celebrated Bailee's birthday.  I personally enjoyed being with family, and teaching the little kids in my primary class about Easter.  Surprising enough even though we kept busy it was relaxing.

On Saturday we were invited to my Family's Neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt.  When we got there we found out this is the last year they will be holding the Easter Egg hunt.  They have been doing the egg hunt for 17 years.  When I found that out I felt really old.  Emilee was nervous at first, thankfully Grandma, Grandpa, and Aunt Brittany helped her out.  Emilee had a lot of fun.  Later that night we dyed eggs, Emilee wanted lots of pink and purple eggs.

Sunday was Easter, unfortunately Adam had to work.  We woke up and got ready for church, Emilee kept asking if the Easter Bunny came.  While I was getting her ready I reminded her why we celebrate Easter.  She was so excited to come down stairs and see if her Easter basket was full.  She had fun taking everything out of her basket one at a time for me to take pictures. The Easter Bunny even left her a present at Grandma and Grandpa's house.   Later that night, Adam was able to join us and we had a wonderful Easter Dinner with my family.  Russell and Amber weren't able to stay for dinner, but it was nice seeing them for a few minutes.  Dinner was so good, Emilee loved the Ham and sitting with her cousins.  Adam proved that he is still good with babies, he can calm down most babies.  After dinner we had our Easter Egg hunt.  The first few years  Emilee, Matthew and Lillian were so young we had to walk them around and it took forever.  This year they couldn't wait.  At one point when we were finishing hiding eggs Matthew and Emilee started knocking on the door saying they needed candy.  It was so much fun to watch them search the back yard for eggs.  Next year we will have to hold them back a few minutes while the two babies go search.  The rest of the night was spent talking and enjoying some yummy cake.  I love the holidays and being able to spend time with family.

Quilt

Years and years ago I took a sewing class, in that class I started making a quilt.  I found a pattern that I thought would be nice and bought all of the material for it.  I never even finished cutting out the pieces before the class ended, so I copied the pattern thinking I would finish it.  I lost the pattern, so I gave the material to my mom to do with as she wanted.  A couple of weeks ago my mom told me she needed to get me a gift, I was helping her with a project.  I told her she didn't have to, well she showed up at my door with the gift.

It was a quilt, she took my material and made me a quilt.  I was so surprised, it was a wonderful gift.  I have already put it to great use.  When I was having pain in my teeth and couldn't sleep at night I would come down and wrap up in it.  Such a great comfort, thank you Mom for my wonderful quilt.

Mysterious Balloon

Do you see the Pink Happy Birthday Balloon in the picture?  We bought that balloon to celebrate Emilee's birthday, we bought it on Feb. 23.  In this picture it is tied down to a balloon weight, important thing to know is that it is fully afloat.  How long can normal latex balloons stay afloat?  The other balloons we bought at the same time and same place were on the floor the next day.  Skip ahead 5 WEEKS!

The balloon is barely losing air, I took this picture on March 30.  I was really excited to see how long this balloon would last, it has disappeared.  Dory (our cat) was playing with the string and carrying the balloon places, the last place I saw it was on our kitchen table.  My theory is Adam was cleaning and he had the door open, Dory kept going in and out.  I think she must have carried it outside and it was lost.    I am sad not to know how much longer the balloon would of stayed afloat, and I am amazed that it lasted for 5 weeks.
